Beginning of an Era

Of course we took pictures of the delivery!

We've been asked this a few times, I guess because we never made this pictures public. Granted, parts of the delivery will never be made public (because parts of the mother should not be made public) but we will welcome you all into the experience a bit.

Here are some of the pictures from the labor and delivery and from our baby boy Kendi's first days in the world. I figured we had to share, after all this is the beginning of an era!

(Oh and for you squeamish people there are a couple photos of a needle in mommy's spine so you might want to skip through those. Just a warning.)

Grand Arrival

The Big-Eyed Beautiful Boy!!

For those who haven't heard, R.S. & M.B. just welcomed into their family a beautiful, big-eyed baby boy! Kendi ("beloved") Aslan ("lion") made his grand arrival on 4/20 weighing in at a healthy 8lbs 2oz.

The fam is happy and learning more-and-more everyday. Like in the diaper changing department, we constantly learn just how much can come out of something so small!?! We profoundly thank everyone near and far for their love and support. We apologize if you don't see or hear from us much, a tiny li'l slave driver now runs our house and we succumb to his will.

We want to share just a piece of the progression in the development of our soon-to-be-born baby. There are very few folks that get to see this growth in person, since mama-to-be has become an awful hermit, so we hope this gives you a little peep into what's to come!

The Business of Being Born

If you have been following the photo journal of r.s. and m.b. you know that we have a little one on the way. It's been a rewarding and life-altering experience that has been positively highlighted by the fact that we have chosen to use a midwife for our birth experience. We will be delivering at the birthing center in a hospital, but our midwife will be the one assisting since we want no unnecessary intervention. After watching this movie, I have no doubt we made the right decision.

If you are pregnant or planning to have children, get as much information as possible, watch this movie, then decide what you want your birth experience to be. Always remember, it is your choice.

:: Monkey Love

Apologies all around for all of those who have missed us during the past weeks. We have been on a bit of a hiatus, but please believe it was necessary. Our lives never seem to slow down or take a turn towards the dull. And of course, we have lots of pretty pictures to keep you up-to-date no matter the situation!

So let's get you all caught up, shall we...

About a month back a sharp pain in the tummy sent R.S. to the hospital and after a wretched series of pokes and prods (and several days at the mercy of the doctor and nurses) the doctors decided it would be a good idea to cut her open and pop out her appendix. M.B. was of course on hand, shutter clicking away...



Well, after this bit of stress we needed a little getaway. So it was perfect timing when M.B.'s family invited us to spend the weekend with them in Rehoboth Beach.



But none of this would have been nearly as exciting (or terrifying) if it weren't for the thrilling news that we got a couple weeks before the surgery. The duo of R.S. and M.B. are soon going to be a trio! R.S. has a li'l monkey growing in her belly (currently unoffcially named Munqee Jones- good, solid Baltimore name).

So, Welcome to the new family!
